Brewers note for lower carbonation:
For ales in a 750 ml bottle, you can use the 330ml or 500ml measure to reduce issues with excessive carbonaton. We commonly use the 500ml with pale/bitter ales and the 330ml measure for stouts and porters to ensure a well balanced lower carbonation.
